A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting a truly wonderful woman who is a practising medical herbalist and remedial therapist. Patrizia Bronzi is also a passionate grower and lover of all things herbal, and the moment I stepped through to her back yard this was completely obvious!
The amazing scents that filled the air were soothing and the beautiful autumn
sun filtering through the trees made the whole experience that little bit more serene.
Patrizia’s herb garden is full to the brim of every type of herb you could ever imagine; and when I say herb garden I don’t just mean a small little patch of herbs, I mean an entire garden FULL of beautiful herbs! Herbs under the clothes line, herbs surrounding the trees, herbs lining the backyard herbal clinic; every herb has its own place in Patrizia’s soil.
After sipping on a gorgeous homemade ‘nourish’ tea (one of Patrizia’s favourites, combining the soothing qualities of nettles, lavender and peppermint) we went for a little herb tour walk in and around her beautiful garden.
Patrizia’s extensive knowledge and in-depth explanations of each herb and its medicinal properties really opened my eyes to the natural healing that is possible through the correct education and use of herbs. I was able to taste everything from gorgeous little purple violets (yes you can eat violets, they are quite sweet!) to two different types of lavender; these taste sensations were amazing and made me feel so connected with the plants!
Every single plant had a unique smell, only fully experienced through rubbing our fingers on the leaves and inhaling the beautiful perfumed scents that were left behind!
Once Patrizia’s journey with herbs began, her passion was unstoppable and has continued to help and aid so many individuals who suffer from chronic disease. Making roughly 35% of her own herbal medicines, Patrizia also makes her own teas and body products, all with ingredients harvested from her own herb garden.
A truly wonderful woman with a truly wonderful passion; Patrizia was such an inspiration!
So inspiring in fact that I am getting excited about starting my own herb garden…keep posted!
Here are a few shots I captured in Patrizia’s herb garden! Just divine!
